EA Joins the Reboot Coalition

We are excited to announce Electronic Arts (EA) has joined the Reboot Representation Tech Coalition at the Ally level. They are the newest member in a growing number of companies who have committed to doubling the number of Black, Latina, and Native American (BLNA) women graduating with computing degrees by 2025.

As a global leader in digital interactive entertainment, EA is a powerful global force in representation, inclusion, and diversity. Their support will go a long way in our mission of investing in the programs and institutions that make education and careers in computing more equitable for BLNA women.

“As we inspire the world to play, we strive for our teams to reflect the diversity of our player communities,” said Electronic Arts Chief Diversity Officer, Asha George. “That meaningful change starts with us, and our continued commitment to empowering the next generation of Black, Latina, and Native American Women in tech with the Reboot Representation Tech Coalition”

The Reboot Coalition was started in 2018 after a first-of-its-kind data report that surveyed leading tech companies to understand how they approach philanthropic and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives focused on closing the race and gender gaps in tech. The report revealed that although tech companies express a strong desire to reach BLNA women, less than 0.1% (or $335,000) of the 32 tech companies’ 2017 philanthropic giving focused on reaching that group specifically.

The 21 member coalition has collectively pledged more than ~$26 million to Black, Latina, and Native American women in computing. Our team is committed and passionate about acknowledging, accounting for, and dismantling the unique set of barriers and challenges that BLNA women face, but creating inclusive environments so everyone, including BLNA women, can succeed in the tech ecosystem.

“Industry-wide change requires everyone at every level to put equity first. With their commitment to the Coalition, EA has shown that they’re ready to do just that,” said Dwana Franklin-Davis, CEO of Reboot Representation. “Creating change in the tech sector, and leading the way, is a choice. We’re ecstatic that EA is choosing to be a force for good.”
