Melinda French Gates recently announced the launch of the Reboot Representation Tech Coalition, a $12M effort by leading tech companies to double the number of Black, Latinx, and Native American women graduating with computing degrees by 2025. Banding these companies’ voices together, the Coalition represents a unique alignment of leading tech companies to pool their resources and scale “what works” for women and girls in tech faster and better than they could individually.
This Coalition stems from research conducted by Pivotal Ventures, an investment and incubation company founded by Melinda French Gates, and McKinsey & Company. Examining tech companies’ philanthropic and corporate social responsibility giving, the resulting report, “Rebooting Representation: Using CSR and philanthropy to close the gender gap in tech,” explores how much companies are spending on gender diversity, where those resources are going, and how companies can improve the efficacy and impact of their giving.
